Grant Aid

Nelson Community Council, every year, awards grants to local Community Groups to assist with the services/activities they provide: During the financial year 2019/2020 just under £1,600 was awarded to:

• Allotments for various projects
• Schools for external storage & prizes for attendance
• Maintenance of local graveyard
• Support of local Choir
• Storage facility for food bank
• Trophies for local sports club

 As you can see the grants are provided for a range of community activities with the Community Council normally allocating up to £2,500 for this purpose.

This year of course has been quite difficult and to date we have only received 2 applications:

• Maintenance of local graveyard
• Support for local food bank (an issue Members thought was very important during this current crisis)

If you run a local community group or project that would benefit the community then please do not hesitate to apply for funding.
